About Sharon

Sharon Zeiss, MS, L.Ac.
My passion for wellness sparked at an early age and in 1986, I began in earnest to take health knowledge and practice beyond a lifestyle choice, and to make it my career. Raised in New York, I am grateful to have shared my formative years with my extended family which not only included step-siblings, but also grandparents and a great aunt who sought to teach me the richness of experience that only elders fully understand. I paid for my undergraduate education at the State University of New York at New Paltz, by managing a health food store. There, I learned of the immense world of nutritional and herbal supplements and alternative care. I was able to apply my learning in the care of my elders. During this time, I also became a hospice volunteer to better understand what my family and others feel as they guide a loved one through the death process. I then moved to the world-renowned health center, Kripalu, in Massachusetts where I learned healthy living through a daily structure of yoga, martial arts, leadership training, and nutritional gourmet cooking. I eventually moved up to lead cook before relocating to Prescott, Arizona where I served as a chef and educator at a three-star restaurant. In 1999, I received my Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture at Emperor’s College, Graduate School of Traditional Oriental Medicine. Today, I am both nationally and state board certified in acupuncture and herbal medicine, with pre- and post-graduate studies in clinical nutrition and herbal supplementation. Over the years I have developed a gentle acupuncture technique for which my patients express gratitude. I am thankful for an enriching and rewarding career, working with leading practitioners at Murad Medical Group , Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic, Quan Yin Healing Arts Center, Painsolvers, and in the Chronic Pain Clinic at Kaiser Permanente, where I learned how to deliver excellent care in a fast-paced environment. I seek to be conscious and conscientious in all I do and I believe that to thrive is to continually strive to improve our knowledge, to increase our understanding of our world, and to expand our compassion for others. I take pride in delivering a holistic, individualized approach to healing by combining acupuncture with healthy cooking styles, nutrition, mind-body skills such as yoga and positive thinking, and most important, sensitivity to patients’ limitations. My passions include: animal rights, dance and movement, laughter and conversation, music, simple living, connection with others and with the natural world.
